May Edward Chinn collection 1926-1980

Physician. May Chinn was the first African-American woman graduate of Bellevue Hospital Medical College, and the first African-American woman doctor in Harlem. Certificates and honorary degrees, a few letters, papers related to the deaths of Chinn's parents, a resume, and membership cards. Also, correspondence concerning Chinn's memorial service and her estate, and letters of condolence to Franklin Williams, her family friend; an autobiography by Dr. Chinn; and letters, oral history proposal, and contract regarding George Davis' proposed biography of Chinn.
